Oracle CHARTOROWID function
The Oracle/PLSQL CHARTOROWID function converts a character, varchar2_Id, NCHAR or NVARCHAR2 to ROWID.
Syntax of the Oracle/PLSQL CHARTOROWID function
CHARTOROWID( value1_Id )
where:
- value1_Id – value to be converted to ROWID
The CHARTOROWID function returns rowid.
Rowid format:
BBBBB_Id.RRRR_Id.FFFFF_Id
where:
- BBBBB_Id – block, in the database file;
- RRRR_Id – line in the block;
- FFFF_Id – database file.
You can use the CHARTOROWID function in the following versions of Oracle/PLSQL

SELECT *
FROM suppls
WHERE rowid = CHARTOROWID('AABoqAADAAwPAA');
This will return a unique row from the suppls table.
